CURRENT PROJECTS

ARIANE 6 INDEPENDENT VIDEO KIT (VIKI)

In May 2019 Réaltra Space Systems Engineering Division was awarded a contract by ArianeGroup to design, develop and deliver the Independent Video Kit (VIKI) that will provide the on-board live video telemetry from Ariane 6, the new European launch vehicle, designed and built by ArianeGroup on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA).  Réaltra was selected to provide the highest engineering and manufacturing standards and trusted to meet the challenge of providing space-qualified video systems for the prestigious Ariane 6 launcher. The Independent Video Kit developed in Réaltra will provide the live video telemetry images from cameras located on-board the Ariane 6 launch vehicle during all phases of the launcher mission.

CUSTOM MODULAR SPACE ELECTRONICS

Réaltra is working on R&D projects funded by the European Space Agency to develop an innovative concept for future spacecraft modular avionics systems based on a network of nodes where each node provides a specific function and using enhanced FDIR concepts to enable the use of low-cost COTS electronics.

PLATO PLIU (PayLoad Interface Unit)

In January 2019 Réaltra Space Systems Engineering Division was awarded a contract from German space company OHB System AG to design, develop and deliver the PayLoad Interface Unit (PLIU) for the European Space Agency (ESA) PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars (PLATO) mission that will be launched in 2026.
The PayLoad Interface Unit (PLIU), that will be designed and built by the team at Réaltra and Realtime in Dublin, will be the largest space electronics hardware contribution and the largest ever single contract awarded to an Irish company for an ESA Science mission. The PLIU developed in Réaltra will provide the thermal control system for the telescopes on the PLATO spacecraft to help underpin the mission’s objective of understanding how our Universe was formed, and whether life exists outside of our own solar system.
